Pride in everything we do

Over the years, Mells Roofing has undertaken some mammoth contracts, for clients in every sector. One thing we are proud of though, is that every contract has the same stamp of quality, regardless of size or client.

Bank of England

Re-roof Bank of England Printing Halls

Location: Loughton, Essex
Size: 20,000 m2

Mells Roofing's experience won it one of the most technically difficult contracts it had ever undertaken; re-roofing the Printing Halls of the Bank of England Printing Works at Loughton in Essex. The barrel vault roofs were designed to be an architectural feature of the building, originally covered with BS747 material, it was decided that re-roofing would be carried out with copper-faced Veral using a combination of torch-on and hot poured bitumen techniques. During the course of the three year contract more than 20,000 square metres of roofing was laid.

The striking rows of copper-faced barrel vaulting, now mellowing with exposure to the elements, can be clearly seen from the nearby M11 motorway and represents one of the most visible examples of Mells roofing expertise in the South East. Back to Top
